Quinta de São Thiago

Among the lush vegetation of the Serra de Sintra in a unique context and orientation, Quinta de São Thiago and Quinta da Infanta emerge.Comprising 8.45 hectares of land and approximately 2000 m2 of construction, they form a luxurious retreat less than 35 km from Lisbon airport.Surrounded by the mystical environment of beauty and contemplation that only Sintra can provide, the space offers views of the mountains to Monserrate and Seteais to the sea.Set in elegant garden platforms, Quinta de São Thiago presents culture, history, luxury and distinction.Completely restored in the 1960s by the architect Luís Benavente, it maintained the most characteristic old elements, such as the chapel with the dedication to the oracle São Tiago, or the gallery leading to the chapel itself with the two Tuscan columns.On the ground floor we come across three vaults with a medieval spirit, two of which are ribbed and supported by stone cups. On the top floor, there are two other vaults, these with a Renaissance spirit, one with a circular dome and the other with a barrel vault, with coffers.Currently adapted to a tourist reality, Quinta de São Thiago's main house is divided into several floors. In the basement, the floor with direct access to the pool, there is a party pavilion and a breakfast nook with a charming porch. It is the most social part of the Quinta, where the various weddings that the Quinta hosts are held.At the entrance, the central courtyard on the ground floor presents itself as the main shelter in a century-old environment, providing unique tranquility next to the tank.On this floor we find six different rooms, some with old flagstone floors, four bedrooms and the office, kitchen, laundry room, pantry and the various bathrooms where it is possible to appreciate the most diverse hand-painted ceramics.On the first floor we have eight more bedrooms and two living rooms, a fascinating library, the chapel and the sacristy. The attic also has two additional bedrooms, a living room and storage spaces.Along the almost 8.45 ha, in intimate contact with nature, we follow the course of one of the tributaries of the Rio das Maçãs and here we can contemplate the bridge with a stone arch, and, even take a break at the Quinta's three tanks. of São Thiago or the other two at Quinta da Infanta.The properties have been used for hundreds of years as retreat, meditation and pilgrimage routes, with unique places to rest, shelter and contemplate nature.Among the dense vegetation we can find a rich flora - stone and maritime pines, eucalyptus, among others, complemented with humanized elements to provide maximum leisure, such as the magnificent swimming pool and tennis court.
